Can anyone provide some insight as to what we should see in Michigan, Illinois, Iowa, Nebraska, Colorado, Utah, and Arizona?
In Vegas - You might want to check out The Mob museum and then stay downtown for dinner and live music @ Freemont Street Experience. Also, there is a "secret" Speakeasy inside the Mob Museum that you can only access by making reservations ahead of time.

Any must see places along the way from Michigan to Houston, Indiana, Illinois, Missouri, Arkansas and Texas?
St louis arch, busch stadium for a game, st louis zoo is amazing, toasted ravioli on the hill neighborhood, St Louis art museum in forest park which is bigger than Central Park in NYC.

Where are some great, beautiful, outdoor spaces to visit with kids and a dog around the Great Lakes, Milwaukee, Cincinnati, Toronto, Ohio, Illinois, and Indiana area?
I can't tell if you'll be in WV at all, but Harpers Ferry, WV has a great brewery and fabulous hiking. You can also go tubing there depending on the time of year and the water levels.

I live in Houston and just took my two to the beach for 3 days (an hour drive from Houston). They had the best time. Rented an Airbnb that allowed pups.
